Meet SSCC Theatre’s New Director, Justin Drummond

HILLSBORO, Ohio — Justin Drummond joined Southern State Community College as Theatre Director of SSCC Theatre in August 2026. In addition to his role as theatre director, he also serves as the Theatre and Communications instructor for SSCC.
Drummond brings 20 years of experience in secondary English and theatre education. He taught English and theatre for 19 years at Adena High School, where he also served as theatre director. For the past two years, he has been theatre director at Paint Valley High School. He also performed professionally as Harry Bright in “Mamma Mia!” at Sugarloaf Mountain Amphitheatre in Chillicothe, Ohio.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary English education from Asbury University. He also has a master’s degree in educational media design and technology from Full Sail University. He plans to pursue a Master of Fine Arts in theatre and technical production.
Drummond serves on the boards of the Paxton Theatre Foundation and the Ohio Educational Theatre Association. For the association, which runs the Ohio Thespians organization, he is also marketing and communications director.
“I’m excited to continue my work in theatre education at the college level with Southern State. I look forward to continuing the strong tradition of producing quality productions and increasing accessibility and opportunities for our students and community,” Drummond said.
Drummond hopes to add courses in technical production while maintaining the department’s core theatre curriculum.
Drummond’s first production at Southern State is William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night.” It runs Nov. 13-15 in Daniels Auditorium. Tickets are available at sscctheatre.com/tickets.
