Benjamin Gullett (John Proctor) most recently wrote, co-directed with Rainee Angles, and
starred as Doctor Edward Squiggllydickler in Squiggllydickler. His past credits include
performances as an ensemble actor in I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change; Rick Steadman,
The Nerd; an ensemble actor in All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten; Pseudolus,
A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum; El Gallo, The Fantasticks; Dr. Spivey, One
Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest; Max Prince and director of Laughter on the 23rd Floor; Scrooge, A
Christmas Carol; the voice of Audrey II in Little Shop of Horrors and many more! Ben is currently
writing two new shows for future production and is attending the Second City Training Center in
Chicago, Illinois.
Emmy Lakes (Abigail Williams) is in her first year at SSCC. Her past roles include Emmy
Elf, It's Sad, So Sad When an Elf Goes Bad; Flower Girl, My Fair Lady; Janice Bobrin, John
Lennon and Me; Marian Paroo, The Music Man; Maria, The Sound of Music; Lady Thiang, The
King & I; M'Lynn, Steel Magnolias; ensemble, All I Really Need to Know I Learned in
Kindergarten and Becky, One Day at the Zoo. Emmy works at Ponderosa Steakhouse. She doesn't
have any future plans set in stone; she's trying to live her life every day in God's will, and let Him
take her where He wants her to go.
Brandy Chandler (Elizabeth Proctor) is a 2004 graduate of Shawnee State University, where
she minored in theatre. At Shawnee, she acted in over a dozen plays, including Fool for Love,
Extremities, Sweet Charity, Picasso at the Lapin Agile and More or Less Shakespeare. She has also
participated in productions at the Portsmouth Little Theater and the Southern Ohio Museum of Art,
and was part of the Portsmouth cast for the Ohio Art Council's Wallpaper Project. Brandy is a
reporter at The Times-Gazette and is a member of the Hillsboro bicentennial committee.
J R Butler (Reverend John Hale) is a sophomore at Highland County Christian School. He
played Clyde in Bow Down at Highland County Christian School, and Squire, Jr., Heading West
and Count Paris, Balthasar and Friar John in Romeo and Juliet at Magic Waters' Theatre. In
addition to The Crucible, Steven is currently working on two roles in HCCS's Christmas program.
Bob Brown (Reverend Parris) is SSCC's Director of the Center for Business and Industry.
His many theatre performances include his roles as The Narrator, Squiggllydickler; Waldgrave,
The Nerd; Ensemble, All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten; Ensemble, Working;
Sanderson, Harvey; O'Neill, The Moon is Blue; Jules, My Three Angels; Mayor, Never Too Late;
Chuck, Dear Ruth; Mr. Zero, The Adding Machine; George, Chapter Two; Lawrence, Loose Ends;
Cletus, Lone Star; Orin, Children of a Lesser God; Rev. Hale, The Crucible; Shriner, Light Up the
Sky; Barnett, Crimes of the Heart and Paul, Murder at the Howard Johnson's. Bob has also
performed in over twenty productions with Actors' Community Theatre in Hillsboro. He also
directed productions of Drop Dead! and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum at
SSCC.
Jon Davidson (Deputy-Governor Danforth): Mathematician, author, musician and
composer, Jon Davidson joined SSCC in 1991 as a mathematics professor. Recently he published
three math books used in courses at SSCC and is working on a fourth. He holds a B.S. in applied
mathematics from Florida State University, and an M.S. in mathematics from University of
Southern California.As an active amateur musician, Davidson is a little more at home playing
clarinet and sax in orchestra pits. His acting experiences are roles in The Art of Dining, Working
and Drop Dead! The part of Judge Danforth is his largest acting role to date. Several of Davidson's
musical compositions have been performed locally, including Elegy for the Victims of Terrorism,
Joy to the World Variations, and Sonata for Clarinet and Horn. Incidental music for The Crucible
is his largest compositional project to date, and his first for full orchestra.
Daniel Bragdon (Francis Nurse) is in his first year at SSCC. He was a member of the set
crew for Squiggllydickler, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, Steel Magnolias, The King &
I, Arsenic and Old Lace, The Sound of Music, John Lennon and Me, The Music Man and The
Miracle Worker, and worked on sound for All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.
Daniel also acted in Arsenic and Old Lace, Disgrace, Juvie and Hard Candy. He is an Eagle Scout
and a member of the Southern State Singers. Daniel plans to graduate from SSCC and transfer to a
college to pursue his goal of becoming a high school history teacher. He also wants to get married
and have kids. Daniel wants to take over the world, MacGyver style: using a toothpick, rubber
band, tube sock, and a stick of gum.
Robin Butler (Sarah Good) has performed previously as a chorus member of The Drunkard
and as a solo vocalist in McLean, Virginia at the World Day of Prayer. Robin performs as a
contemporary Christian music vocalist and hopes to establish a community outreach contemporary
Christian vocal group.
Steven Butler, Sr. (Giles Corey) has done theatre work in the past, although he says he hasn't
acted during this century! He is a 1976 graduate of Fairmont West High School. He worked on
props, lighting, and sound for West Side Story and was the general in No Time for Sergeants.
Steven says he can't remember the other shows he's done: "You know, they say memory is the
second thing to go ... now, what was the first?"
Aaron Butsch (Judge Hathorne) has been seen in many theatre productions. His past work
includes his roles as Argan, Too Many Doctors; Mr. Leonard, Next Door; and a gravedigger,
choreographer, a guard, and chorus in Hamlet-Cha-Cha-Cha. Aaron was a member of the chorus
in California Gold Rush, A New Creation and Holiday Highlights, and was a member of the stage
crew for The Female Odd Couple. He is a volunteer group leader for Kamp Dovetail, which he has
attended for eleven years. Aaron hopes to do many other productions, and may try working on
Broadway someday. He and his wife hope to open a shop in Tennessee within the next five years.
Betty Corbin (Martha Corey) was last seen at SSCC in the production of Drop Dead! She
has also appeared in Magic Waters' Theatre productions of Lilies of the Field and Fairy
Tale-a-pa-looza.
Heidi Davidson (An Abigail Follower): This is Heidi's first theatre production. She enjoys
dance, music and art. Heidi plans to go to SSCC for two years, then transfer to Ohio State
University, where she will major in architecture.
Mitch Gall (Ezekiel Cheever) is a sophomore at HHS. This is his second production for
SSCC, he was a stagehand for I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change. Mitch is interested in art
and video games, and was a ninja in Vietnam.
Kim Ellen Garvie (Ann Putnam) is a 1998 graduate of Wright State University, where she
earned a bachelor of arts in theatre studies. Her past theatre work at SSCC includes her roles as
Clelia Waldgrave, The Nerd; ensemble, All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten; Rose
Hoffman and various women in chorus, Working and narrator and stage manager of One Day at
the Zoo. Kim works at Scanner Applications in Milford and is pleased to announce that she finally
took a vacation that lasted more than 3 days. Kim's advice is that the sky is the limit: dream to
touch the stars and you will hold the world in your hands.
Alex Hale (John Willard) is a sophomore at Hillsboro High School. He was a stagehand for I
Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change and was on the sound crew for One Day at the Zoo, both
at SSCC. In his free time, Alex enjoys skateboarding and playing guitar. He hopes to attend college
for video game design or for performing arts: guitar and drama.
Rachael Hall (Mary Warren) is in her first year at SSCC. She has appeared in many
productions, including chorus, The Sound of Music; Anybodies, West Side Story; Alma Hix, The
Music Man; Hodel, Fiddler on the Roof; Lily-Bell Savage, The Curious Savage; Ms. Witherspoon,
Arsenic and Old Lace; Moon, The Real Inspector Hound; and Abby, Jumpin' Jupiter. In high
school, she was a cheerleader and a member of the choir, show choir, and many clubs. Rachael
wants to be a special education teacher.
Molly Hensley (An Abigail Follower) is a student as SSCC. She worked on make-up and
props crew for Squiggllydickler, performed costume and make-up duties and helped choreograph
a scene for I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change and worked on costume crew for The Nerd.
Sara Ledger (Tituba) is a senior at HHS. Her past performances include a townsperson, The
Music Man; wife, The King & I; ensemble, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change and Beth,
Uncool. Sara was on the publicity crew for John Lennon and Me, The Sound of Music and The
King & I. She is a member of the National Honor Society, ITS, Leo Club, DECA, symphonic
choir, Ohio Lions All-State Band, and Quick Recall. Sara plans to go to college.
Amy Petzold (Mercy Lewis) is a student at SSCC. Her past performances include her roles as
Clairee Belcher, Steel Magnolias; Wife & Dancer, The King & I; Martha Brewster, Arsenic and
Old Lace; Beatrice, When God Comes for Breakfast, Don't Burn the Toast; Frau Schmidt, The
Sound of Music; Mrs. Squires, The Music Man; Girl #5, I Know I Saw Gypsies; Mrs.
Eynsford-Hill, My Fair Lady; Old Elf, It's Sad, So Sad When an Elf Goes Bad and Perkins Girl,
The Miracle Worker. She also worked on the makeup and costume crew for I Love You, You're
Perfect, Now Change at SSCC and the costume crew for John Lennon and Me at HHS. Amy
hopes to transfer to a four-year college this spring and study psychology. She also plans to be
involved in theater wherever she goes.
Lou Pfaehler (Thomas Putnam) grew up in Bethel, Connecticut, where he took part in several
stage productions as an actor. He got bit by the acting bug early in life: his first role was in an
elementary school production of The H.M.S. Pinafore. During high school, Lou also took part in
a completely class written production entitled The Adventures of Danbury Jones, where he
portrayed one of the teachers in the school This is Lou's first acting role at SSCC. He was a
member of the set crew and provided the voice of Dean the Bean in The Nerd. Lou's future plan is
to have fun being a part of theater, big and small. Lou has been married for just a year and a half
now, and would like to thank his lovely wife for putting up with him (and his acting!)
Caitlin Ryan (Susanna Walcott) is a 2006 graduate of SSCC, where she is currently taking
classes for her third year. This is her first acting role; she has provided publicity for
Squiggllydickler, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change and The Nerd, and was director's
assistant for Bow Down at HCCS. Caitlin's hobbies include reading, listening to music, and saying
"woo hoo hoo" as often as possible. After graduating from high school this spring, Caitlin hopes to
transfer to Northern Kentucky University, where she intends to major in English, minor in theatre,
and stalk Brian Duff between classes. If she does well in this production, Caitlin would like to
dedicate her performance to her beloved family, especially her parents. If not ... well, forget she
ever said anything.
Jonathan Severt (Hopkins) is a post-secondary student at SSCC. He played the judge of The
Fairytale Courtroom and Tubby in Readin', Bitin', and Arithmetic in the Night of One Acts at
HHS. Jonathon's other activities include participating in the Rotary speech contest and
broadcasting. He plans to become a research doctor.
Carol Shull (Rebecca Nurse) teaches French and Spanish at Hillsboro High School and
Spanish at SSCC. This is her first play, although she sang and played violin in high school and
community performances when she was younger. Carol enjoys spending time with the people she
loves: her husband, Ken, her children, and her friends and relatives. Her other favorite activities
revolve around languages and communication, Maine and the ocean, the arts and cooking. On the
cosmic level, Carol plans to live the rest of her life as fully and with as much joy and gratitude as
she possibly can. On the concrete level, she plans to enjoy the rest of her teaching years in
Hillsboro. After they retire, Carol and her husband will move to Rockland, Maine, where they will
savor each other's company, the town and harbor and visits from their friends, relatives, children,
and (hopefully) grandchildren.
Ariel Thornton (Betty Parris): This is Ariel's second play. She was last seen in A Family
Affair at Magic Waters' Theatre. Her other activities include sewing, babysitting, and hanging out
with friends. In the future, Ariel wants to spread her religion to other countries, be in more plays,
and spend more time with her family.
Christy Cadwallader (Stage Manager): This is Christy's first theatre production. She enjoys
photography and writing. Christy's goals are to be a writer with a book on the bestsellers' list, and
to continue to take pictures.
Brent Angles (Master Carpenter, Production Designer) has worked with Angles Mobile
Home Service for 18 years. He started designing sets with his wife seven years ago at Hillsboro
High School. He has also served as the Master Carpenter for many productions, including: The
Miracle Worker, John Lennon and Me, The Music Man, My Fair Lady, The Wizard of Oz, The
Nerd and Squiggllydickler. In his free time, Brent competes in amateur drag racing events and
enjoys time with his wife and two-year old son. When he has free time ....
Brian Duff (Lights Designer): Brian's past theatre crew work includes lighting designer,
Squiggllydickler, One Day at the Zoo, The Nerd, All I Really Need to Know I Learned in
Kindergarten, Go Back to Your Precious Wife and Son, The Music Man, My Fair Lady, The
Miracle Worker, Little Shop of Horrors and A Christmas Carol and lights and sound crew, I Love
You, You're Perfect, Now Change. He also provided the voice of Laythrex in One Day at the Zoo.
In his spare time, Brian works at Radio Shack and plays guitar. He plans to go to NKU, where he
will earn a bachelor's degree in theatre lighting design.
Joyce-Wainscott-King (Costume Designer) enjoys working in the greenhouse, baking,
sewing and vegetable gardening. She is the mother of two boys, 10 and 12. She has done wedding
gown alterations and hopes to be involved in future productions.
Mildred Wainscott (Costume Designer) is a co-owner of Wainscott's Greenhouse. She
enjoys gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
Courtney Beekman (Sound Operator) is a student at SSCC. Her past performances include a
fairy, A Midsummer Night's Dream; extra, The Wizard of Oz; Old Crone, The Miracle Worker;
Maggie/Perfecta 4, Newton's Second Law; Susan, Welcome to Our House; Pick-a-Little Lady, The
Music Man and Susan, Welcome Back to the House. Courtney worked on the costume crew of A
Christmas Carol, was prompter/assistant stage manager for Final Dress Rehearsal/Ugly Duckling,
directed Right Way on the Wrong Road and was stage manager for The Nerd. She is a third shift
cashier at Wal-Mart, and her hobbies including writing, design, and photography. Courtney plans
to earn her associate's of arts degree, and become a professional photographer or optician.
Jericah Shelton (Make-up) is a post-secondary student at SSCC. This is her first theatre
production. Jericah works at ABX Air, and is a member of the Leo Club and a student council
representative at Fairfield Local. She plans to attend Wright State University next fall, where she
will major in psychology.
Elizabeth Burkard (Publicity) graduated from SSCC in 2002 and became a full-time employee
at the College in 2004, working in the Communications Office. She has done marketing for several
of the College's theatre performances, some of which include All I Really Need to Know I Learned
in Kindergarten, The Nerd, One Day at the Zoo, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change and
Squiggllydickler. Her hobbies include scrap booking, traveling and antique collecting.
Annie Rankin (Publicity) is the Communications Director at SSCC. Having worked in the
marketing and public relations office for more than 16 years, she has performed various duties
such as graphic design, advertising, news writing, web design and more. Annie earned an
associate of arts degree from SSCC and a bachelor of science degree in digital communications
from Franklin University. Currently working toward a master's degree from California State
University, Dominguez Hills, her long-term goal is to earn a doctorate in English or
communications. During a rare moment, known as "spare time," she enjoys watching movies;
however, nothing compares to, as she puts it, "the fulfillment one receives when attending a live
show from Southern State Community College's theatre department!"
